Dualzo vs GitHub Copilot
GitHub Copilot and Dualzo both use AI to turn GitHub issues into code, but they solve different problems. Copilot is an AI coding assistant. Dualzo is an AI code governance platform: the controls around AI-written code before it reaches your repository. Many teams will use both.
The short answer
Code completion and chat in your editor, plus a coding agent you can assign GitHub issues to. The agent starts working as soon as it is assigned, runs in GitHub Actions, and opens a pull request that it updates as it goes. You review the result.
A governance layer for AI coding agents. It writes a plan first and waits for a human to approve it, validates every task in a locked-down sandbox on your repository's own tests, and only opens a pull request when everything passes. Every step is audited.
How they compare
| GitHub Copilot coding agent | Dualzo | |
|---|---|---|
| Main job | Help developers write code, in the editor and on GitHub | Govern what AI agents are allowed to change, and prove what they did |
| Before code is written | Starts working when an issue is assigned to it | Writes a plan (tasks, files, commands, risk, rollback) and waits for approval |
| Where humans sign off | Pull request review on GitHub | A workspace admin approves the plan by email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, or the web app — then your team reviews the pull request |
| Checks | Runs in a GitHub Actions environment you can configure | Your confirmed install, lint, typecheck, test, and build commands, in a throwaway container with no network after install |
| Failing checks | Shown on the pull request for you to review | No pull request until everything passes; the model gets two fix attempts, then a human decides |
| Record of what happened | Session logs and the pull request history | Append-only audit trail from issue to plan, approval, each task, each check, and the pull request |
| AI models | Models offered in your Copilot plan | Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or Gemini agents, chosen per repository or per task |
Copilot details are based on GitHub's public documentation as of September 2026. GitHub changes Copilot often — check GitHub's docs for the current feature set. GitHub and GitHub Copilot are trademarks of GitHub, Inc. Dualzo is not affiliated with GitHub.
When to choose which
- Choose Copilot when you want AI help while you write code yourself, or quick agent pull requests on repositories where a normal code review is enough.
- Choose Dualzo when AI agents change production repositories and you need someone to sign off on the plan first, a guarantee that failing code never becomes a pull request, and a record you can show to your team or an auditor.
- Use both — Copilot in the editor, Dualzo for AI-driven changes that need approval and validation. They do not conflict.
